News: Nakamichi NSX Subwoofers
- Tuesday 29th May, 2012
We all remember Nakamichi as the brand of the 90's for high end products with a focus on sound quality. After a few years absence from the market they're back and have brought with them a couple of very versatile subwoofers.
The new Nakamichi NSX subwoofers have been designed first and foremost as a sound quality speaker but with one clear distinction, scale. We all like our car audio a little louder and with a little more impact than perhaps a high end reference HiFi system and Nakamichi have recognised this need.
NSX, dubbed "the beast from the east" is available in two models, the NSX12 - a 12" with 1350w RMS power handling, and the big brother NSX15, a 15" woofer boasting a respectable 1850w RMS power handling.
Interestingly, both the 12" and 15" subwoofers share the same motor structure, a custom designed T-yolk design and top plate. They resemble more like what you would find in high end component speakers, just on a big scale!

Other design features include 4" long throw voice coil, extraordinaraly stiff Bi-laminated cone avoiding uncontrolled resonance and flex, double sandwich spider and low electrical Q ensuring unmatched solidarity in the bass tones.
Nakamichi tell us the NSX subwoofers are an SQ sub that can outperform SPL subwoofers.
With a RRP of $899 and $999 for the NSX12 and NSX15 respectively, we think Nakamichi just might be on to something with this new addition to the brand. Stay tuned for a review in coming weeks in the meantime check out the Nakamichi NSX Subwoofers Discussion Thread.
