hey guys, as you can see from my sig, i have a 7876r, and i was wondering, what u think they r like for sq? because i'd like to turn my system into an SQL system, (obviously not with my current amps...or speakers...) and was wondering if the 7876r is alright to base one on?

the 7876 is excellent. to my knowledge it uses the same CD mechanism, DACs, and preamp stage as current model midrange/high end HUs.
so for SQ, it's as good as you need. what it lacks is some of the features of newer HUs, including time alignment. aside from that, it makes an excellent base for an SQL system, include 3 preouts.
johnA recently had a chance to try one in his old setup (SQ setup with audison amps and dynaudio splits, etc). compared with his premium 7939, he said it was audibly as good.
personally, i wouldn't make it your highest priority to upgrade.

Well I run a 7876RB and I can tell you that as the system gets further development it is not going anywhere.
Good thing (altho a PXA-H600 to go with it would be nice)
