My System

My subs are in a very small sealed enclosure...
with the addition of Alpine F1 series 3 Way's do you think i would hvae a hope in competing successfully? or is it a waste of time with my equipment?? like basically, is my system suited to SQ?
If not then what would you change and why??
also how 'showy' does a system hvae to be? my system is extremely neat, you cant see any cabling except for under the dash up high and under the bonnet, all amps are flush mounted, as are the subs, flushmounted in the tyre well facing upwards...
my only non-neat thing is the car itself being an older model mazda 323 which i ofcourse cant do anything about....
would this get me a decent number of points for just the showy factor and installation factor? or will i need to make changes to make it alot more showy?

You have some great gear. The key is getting your front stage to image properly. Personally I'd rather listen to lesser speakers that image well compared to top line stuff where I can just hear right channel, or whatever. If you have limited speaker placement options it might be time to think about a time alignment processor.
Also try to get as much midbass up front as possible without bringing out all the resonances. Basically you are trying to achieve the impression that the subbass is coming from up front. Again, time alignment can help with this too by slightly delaying the signal to your front end.
I would also be interested to know what the latest requirements are regarding presentation?

the CAASQ comp scene will be launched throughout the year. it caters for those who don't wish to have their systems judged on cosmetics and install features by having separated classes. so you can enter and be purely judged on the SQ of the system.
if you can afford topline components, then go for it. it will help a bit towards acquiring SQ nirvana, presuming you actually like the sound of the components you choose.
but as you know, the 'installation' is critical for top SQ. so no point spending all the time and money on top components when the install makes it only sound average.
an older car as your own benefits greatly from extensive sound deadening, so this is important.
good luck

also i have another question, given the installation i have described earlier, would i be better off to enter the sector without installation judging or the sector with??
although its very simple it is streamlined, everything matches, everything is flush mounted, everything secure, u cant see cabling etc etc etc
my boot for instance looks like it was made especially for subs and amps cus i hvae custom mdf panneling over most of the boot.....
any ideas? or suggestions?

so whilst i could ramble (never!) on about possible tips and tricks...they may not be relevant to your system nor work.
in terms of the install, consider uploading some pics, starting a thread in the 'Your System and Pics Forum'. then others can see what it's like and how good you are.
