which pretty much goes back to what shiny said (and I think) that you need to push an amp out of its 'comfort zone' to show where the extra $$ go.

I think RC's test is irrelivate BECAUSE it isnt a dynamic sound test in either volume or frequency range.

Crikey! Perhaps I should have mentioned that I think amps DO sound different and that by this test I may well prove myself wrong! I will press ahead with this and inform all when I am ready to go.

They definitely do sound different.

I very recently upgraded from an older kenwood amp to a PG amp, for my sub.

I can tell you there is definitely a big difference. Not only does it sound louder, but it also sounds cleaner and deeper. I guess this can be attributed to better internals such as power supply, efficiency & better crossover.

I also replaced the HU amp with the PG. Now whos to say different amps dont sound different?
