ie. A sedan, hatch, wagon, big 4WD or van??
What would you be looking for in terms of cabin design for the ultimate SQ car??
Small or large cabin volume?
Sub in same cabin space as listener, or separate (in boot)..?
Low or high seating position?
thoughts everyone??

1. seated closer to the floor. so speakers are closer to ear level.
2. seated further back, compared to a 4 door (don't think i've seen many 2 doors that have the same door as the 4 dr version)
Then things like fuel tank location, the arrangement of the back seat (split fold, arm rest or neither) all come down to the particular model of vehicle.
My opinion is on tweeters and mids fitted in kicks and woofers in the doors.
but hey it's my opinion

i personally like the sub-bass possibilities of a hatchback (single airspace), the wide and open and relatively unobstructed footwells of a large sedan (commodore, magna, falcon etc), the low and rearward seating position of a coupe (hondas and the like), the installation space of a wagon, the reduced pathlength differences of a small car (lancers, subaru imprezzas, most hatches), the reasonable price (leaving money for a wicked system) of a japanese/australian car, and the solidity and less resonant construction of an expensive european cruiser (even though the buggers DO still rattle).
find me a car that does all of that, and put me down for a deposit
btw, for SQ, i have a preference for cloth/velour interiors (yes i can hear the difference) even though leather looks nicer

Arched roof would be good for cancelation, they are tanks so the steel is better quality then the plastic cars of today, huge doors and kicks, huge boot, plus man its got fins!!!!!
All the older holdens like FB, FC etc are good for the same reasons

How about something where the driver's seat is in the middle? Like the Maclaren F1...

Despite what Shiny says I am determined to pull off an awesome sounding system in a 90s model MR2. And guess what Shiny you little skank, with a bit of assistance from a guy I know in Cali, I have worked out all the dimensions to fit 1.5cu-ft behind each seat while retaining full seat travel and recline, no fiberglass involved

I like big cars... lots of installation space and options... and the bigger the kicks, the better.
Shiny mentioned something in another thread about the 'loading advantages' of having a sub in the boot, rather than in the passenger cabin... I know Shiny is referring to rear loading, but otherwise, are there any disadvantages to having subs in the same cabin space as the driver/passenger??
Another good car IMO for an SQ setup is the old ('88/'89) Honda legend coupe. I remember seeing one with a mammoth system... (twin 15's in aperidoic enclosure, 5 soundstream amps, 3-way front stage with 8" woofers, 8"'s in parcel shelf plus a huge EQ/processor in a motorised lift in the parcel shelf) They have nice big kicks, and come standard with speaker grill cloth on the front doors. There's heaps of room behind the trims, and the seating position is pretty low and well back...
