what's more, IDMAX subs were not imported as regular stock. most have been private imports, so good luck sourcing one.

I actually spoke to pierre the Manager/owner of Arena Distributors (extremely nice and helpful bloke mind you) regarding Image Dynamics.
To put it short he hasn't taken a delivery of products from Image for ages and from my interpretation of the conversation, they were a company he has had problems dealing with in regard to getting stock in and actually contacting.
I wanted to get some replacement voice coil assemblies for my IDQ8's and he suggested that I'd have better luck dealing with Image myself. Luckily he has some spare assembles already in stock.
From this experience it seems to me that Arena no longer wishes to distribute Image Dynamics gear and seems like another product that we will have to import ourselves.
If you want to know straight from Arena I'd suggest giving them a call on (08) 9361 5422 their official buisness number. You'll definitely get to talk Pierre as it is a one man operation there. He's a pretty friendly and extremely helpful person, excellent to deal with from my experiences so be nice .
But realistically probably your only option on getting your hands on one asap will be buying Icebreakers pair.

My understanding (from elsewhere) is that Image Dynamics and Arena have "parted company" and that Image Dynamics have increased their minimum shipping quantities to a point it will be difficult for an alternative distributor to pick the range up.
Which is a crying shame, it is good product for sure. The IDMAX drivers have basically been a private import issue from day one and always difficult to obtain, another shame coz IMHO it is the "driver of choice" ATM.
Watch this space tho'

Whether it was asking about products, or merchandise.
Pierre wasn't that helpful the 1 time i spoke to him the other 4 times i called he wasn't in, and the person there, didn't even sound like they knew what ID was. So i gave up trying to deal with them. So basically if 1 person isn't there, you can't get any help at all. And you have to call back, which is great considering your calling STD in the middle of the day. (won't worry some ppl)
As far as ID goes in Aus, you also may have noticed that there was very little advertising of them also.
As for getting parts for the IDQ 8's that shouldn't be to huge of a problem getting from ID themselves, but just bare in mind that the IDQ line ceased, and only the ID line remained (subs, not the midbass drivers).
but that's just my experiences.
As far as stories about ID increasing it's import quota.. That's all well and good, but how long ago was their last shipment... over 12 months as far as i know, and with a couple new lines and no stock for a long period of time, one would think you'd be ready for an order... but no advertising, and limited outlets to purchase as alot of people would have found, doesn't make it easy it buy or sell.
anyway my 2c

Hell no... an email reply took 6 months to get a reply. The reply only came when I posted a message to Matt Boghart on the Carsound forums that I did recieve a reply. Calling them up would probably be a better idea but overseas calls are expensive and you definitely wouldn't want to be put on hold! With this experience I recieved from the company I'd just rather not deal with them.
They have a great product and all but my experience with their service was not good at all. But if you were in the U.S. I believe they have it much much better. Too bad though a few years back when they were not as popular an email to them would be turned over in a day!!
As for getting in contact with Pierre, got through to him first go... remember though that WA is 2 or 3 hours behind depending on daylight savings. At other times when he was not there the answering machine is there and had all my messages responded to via a call back from him. They do have an email address as well you know in which I have always recived a prompt response.
I wish that these manufacturers will give some markets a break regarding quota's and new lines of stock.
Maybe a smaller quota on new product lines to distributors to test the market and fulfill early orders from diehard fanatics instead of cutting out smaller car audio market out completely.
But in the end I guess buisness is unfortunately driven by profit so in the end we either dont get it or pay dearly for it.

I hope all goes well as ID are a quality company that offer very nice products. In the States they are very well respected and their products are obviously much more readily available. It is simply because we are so far away and the company don't believe in the market here.
Good luck!

costs bugger all for a 5min phone call.
i think $3 for 10min on a voda mobile.
As for arena, i guess it depends on when you call.
one of the times i called pierre was away for 3 days. so it's all about timing.
As for emailing ID, yes i've also found Eric to be slow from time to time to reply, i guess coping emails from all around the world, esp for things that a decent distributor should be able to handle for you, increases his work load. But yes as a consumer it's bloody frustrating, as i've been there myself.

BTW, how did you damage yours? It seams wierd that such a high quality speaker has a high failure rate.
PS I found both pierre and ID themselves to be quite helpful.
