There was talk of an SQ workshop in both Syd and Melb and now that Melbourne has a lot of SQ Judges, is this SQ workshop thing happening soon??
I would like to see it b4 the CAASQ event if possible just so we can get our cars right.
Thanks in advance Mick

the SQ Workshops are an idea of mine that both Critter and myself are working on, and will be testing in sydney. before this happens, the auditioning format needs to be released to the members for comment, and i am scheduling this to happen this week. once comments have been made and suggestions implemented, Criter and I will commence the workshops here in sydney. the idea always was that once this happened, guys in other cities (eg melbourne) would simply take up the audition format and run it.

anyway, if your super keen, speak to your reps and fellow members in your local area, and see if they are willing to put something together themselves. otherwise, you can wait until we get our act together in sydeny

anyway, doing the workshops is actually pretty easy, its having a document that everyone feels confident in that is the hard part, so if everyone can just wait a bit longer, ours will be ready and everyone can benefit from it.

oh and for what its worth, i wouldnt run a workshop before the first soundoff in your city, because the workshop may give false indications of what might win the competition, when in reality, it would be better for everyone to have competed first, to see up close what it is the judges like.

stay tuned

Thanks for the reply T-Bro but without reading posts from CAASQ I was pretty confident that Shiny, Marc, Cyber and a few others from Melbourne were judging the N.S.W. event. What I am keen to know, is these guys must know what they are looking for in terms of SQ and running a workshop would just be like judging a car. I will egarly await a Syd SQ workshop format .
Thanks Mick

time...

having seen t-bro's preliminary workshop format it looks a goodie. would love to adopt it down here once there's time to get it up and running.

mick: it won't be up and running before the first melbourne [CAASQ] comp.

Yeah, the folks in Melbourne have a bit on their plate atm.

At this stage, the Sydney workshops look like running first and we will learn from the experience. There is a "stay tuned" element here....

In the end, a good sounding system for the pleasure of playing music is not exactly the same as an SQ comp winning system, but the workshops will go through the principles that apply to both issues and the idea is to learn and apply and develop those systems.
