the 409 has 150 individually hand picked and measured/matched parts as with all F1 status gear and larger power supply as well as limited edition engraving, blue leds instead of green on top and copper base cover like the copper case head units. Birth Sheet on mine is 57.5 Watts X 4 at 12V, runs a little cooler than the 407 i had too. Hard to buy now though as the big 4CH is a cummin. Mine will be for sale soon as it comes out or i change to audison. Oh Yeah tested again against my 407 can't pick the diff just a little more power

ive been told stories that the 409's are just the 407's which just had real high birth certs but iam not too sure, they do also come with the copper base which i dont think would do anything.i have 2 409's rated 65.5watts@12v and the other 60.5watts@12v

I doubt they are the real high ones then, cos the two 407's i have are both 4x60WRMS...as is the one my mate has.

one of my 407's has a birth sheet test at 63.0 watts rms, so the 409 might be more or less the same thing?

i did see a car instal article where they quoted the 409 having 730w total power though.

very confusing...

don't go by the specs!

it's much like home hifi to, with the 'special edition' releases of such things as marantz CD players. the specs won't tell the full story coz it's in the quality of the parts. still, it may only be when you stress an amp (ie: run it near full power) that the finer amp will shine. likewise the detail and nuances of HDCD matched with audiophile speakers will probably show through as better.

so it's not to say they're great value or you can pick a difference from day to day, but no doubt there is a difference.

I couldn't pick the diff between my 405 , 407, 409 when i compared em so i probably should have left the old ones and spent more on install to get a better result but you never know till you try for yourself in your situation with your tastes and senses. Was going to change to Audison but i doubt i'll pick the diff and i just got the price holly hell. But the chromed ones look so good.......must have........garrrr

now those (audison VRx) i guarantee there is an audible difference! i certainly noticed a significant improvement between alpine V12 series I and the VRx's. maybe trained ears helps, but it's definitely a nice improvement to my tastes.
