This is a box for a Kicker S10L5 square...ive been mucking around with a box program, ive come up with this combo for a single 10" square.as follows 60litre internal volume box tuned to 30hz dual 3" removable ports 45.86cms long each -3db @27hz thats for good lowwww exstention i hope, then change the ports with 2x3" ports at 23.76cm long each tuning it to 40hz -3db @32hz for spl? Does that sound reasonable? or should i tune it lower for the 1st setup mentioned!

For reasonable SQ, 2 cu/ft is far too large for that sub..

For a nice loud SQ box, I'd try 1.2-1.4 cu/ft (34-40L) tuned to 32hz.. Yes I do realise the required port lengths will be pretty long, but with some creativity it wouldn't be too hard to fit in a slot port of the required length..

For SPL, 1.4-2 cu/ft tuned to around 40hz will work ok.. (of course fine tuning of the port length will work better..)

ahh okie dokie, i was just going through the kicker manual and it has 3 box size choices

1- Compact= 1.25cft+ port 2.5x11.25" 19.75" long

2- Street Bass= 1.75cft= port 2.5x11.25" 17.75" long

3- SPL/Deep Bass= 2.25cft= port 3x11.25" 18" long

So i guess im looking for something in this region i want alot of deep bass, loud ,hopefully nice and tight without being boomy or mushy .

To be honest, all of kickers recommended ported boxes are of the loud boomy variety..

hmm might be better to just go 2cft sealed with 2 squares and plenty of juice i think

yeh the manual actualy states sealed boxes for sq
compact being .66cft and 1cft for SQ and exstended lowend, so i guess with 500rms to each sub should be pretty loud and sound much more musical do you think?

Definitely go sealed with the current range of Kicker squares for SQ.

IMO the only ported square driver for SQ is the 2001 S12L72 and you can't get them any more.

And yeah, that should work fine.

Thanks guys, would there be any real difference between the .66 cube and the 1 cft box exept the minor 10 litres difference?

The 1 cu ft box will have more low-end extension and be smoother. Well worth doing IMO.
