I'm planning to buy a jl w6v2 12 inch very soon, and i'm just wondering, whether it would be sufficient to fill in my cabin with sub bass? the sub will be installed into a 98 prelude, with a helix hxa500 powering it (the mono channel rate 250wrms at 2 ohm)

Should i go with 2x10s w6v2 instead? or even 2x12s w6v2? or just stick with my initial plan with 1x12? how about 1x10?

PS: Edited the subject since it's been taking the wrong attention ....

A single 12" (decent one) is plenty for a small car like that. Otherwise, I would go the 2 x 10s and this will not only give you decent bass, spl would be a little higher too.. I personally think 10's are the ideal size.

Yes the 10inch would give a slightly increased SPL, but the cost over the single 12inch would not make it worth it.

It would be cheaper and far better to get the single 12inch and buy a better amp to power just the sub.

Its also better to power a single sub properly rather than underpower two subs. This reduces the chance of clipping and frying yoru subs aswell

So do you think 250 wrms off my mono channel would be insufficient for a jl w6v2? I'm not really concern about SPL performance, so as long as i can get good spectral balance i'll be happy ... thanks for your opinion

Go a single 12" sealed. Prelude cabin's are good for SQ and 'bass retention' so a single 12" will sound awesome.

Go sealed, there are better subs to port IMO.

I'm putting a 12" Eclipse sub into my gf's car running off a Eclipse amp, you should have plenty of bass, she just wants it as a nice kick.

Thanks for your helps ... i'm thinking of making a sealed box with a 12inch sub ... btw, should i face the sub forward or facing the rear ... or maybe facing up (using a false floor kind of install)? Once again, thanks ..

Personally i believe the bigger the better.

You should buy a single clarion 32inch sub. Should be plenty of air moving, make sure you have enough room. Good Luck.

[/indent]It's not the size that matters.... It's how you use it

it never ends, I started with two tens. then four eights then one twelve and two eights, then two tens and two eights. then one fifteen and two eigths and nowadays, two fifteens for sub bass and two eights in front with two sixes in rear for midbass...

That'll do me. But, is it enough? not to take SPL trophys from some dude in cow shorts...

DrDJChoss... too many figures, you sound like you were seeking first place in a maths competition in high school! Ease up on the subs alittle!
