Then again I perfered the sound of the Utopia's to the Dyns..

Glad you've gone for the utopias.. It's a really hard call what is good value for money - but the Utopias (in a good install) are by far the nicest of the range.. I found the TN45 to be very harsh at higher volumes and decided to go for the 5.25" Utopias over the 6.5" Kevlars largely for this reason (and keeping the $$ down).

Well Stoked says it works well - but assuming the Crossovers are designed for one or the other, not sure how it would come together....

Then again - there's always the option of going active....

hope your not trying to say you need the utopia crossover as well cos otherwise you aren't going to save much money doing it that way

I have to agree with some ppl here.... there is quite noticable difference between the polykevlar range and the polyglass.

The difference between the utopias and the polykevlars is smaller though.....

Yeah I agree, more of a difference in sound with the Poly-Ks and Glasses... than Ks and Utopias

About a $100 price difference b|w the Ks and Gs too

I was talking to this car audio dude, and he said that its not really worth spending the extra cash to get Utopia's instead of Polykev's.

Hey when do the new focal speaker range come in, cause i wouldn't mind getting a set of the Focal PolyKevlar K2's. I got a price of $699 a couple of months ago. So i rekon $550-600 with bargaining!????????????????

i think maybe they gave u a good price bcos there old range was going to get phased out and there in that period... to my understanding the new stock either rdy to be ordered or will be extremely soon.. but the older range is cheaper to order so they are ordering these?? don't quote me on that tho just something i heard around the traps

My experience has been that no matter what I ended up buying I always wondered about the top of the range product, which ended up costing me more in the long run to upgrade to.

That being the case i agree with the earlier comments outlining that the speaker is onyl as good as the weakest part of the system. Eg Utopia speakers are fantastic (I have the 3 way front stage) but you need top quality amplifiers and in turn good quality signal to get the mos from them. The other thing to consider, i have a few sets of focal speakers and have found they all need a reasonable amount of power. The Utopia set i have is rated at 100rms but the 6.5" mid bass driver sucks a fair amount of power and i believe 200rms or more would be ideal. (I am now running 400rms per side to them which allows me heaps of headroom and the amp gains are all at minimum for improved signal to noise ratio)
