Like the topic says, i'm deciding between those two subs. Which one do you think offer better performance in terms of SQ and why? Thanks for your comments ...

JL Audio W6v2 for general plug-and-play SQ superiority.

Kicker L7 will get close, but only with a lot of experimentation with the box.

The JL is a very musical sub and is great for SQ, Whereas the L7 is a good SQ driver, if setup correctly.

The thing with the L7 it will plainly beat your head in if you give it enough power.

As a generalisation, the JL will have its nose in front.

IMO the L7 is underrated for SQ, certainly my old ported one that Ignite has now still has the best bottom end I've ever heard in a car. IMO....
Not sure I'd port the current range tho'.

L7s are different than other subs, they have a special character that if you dig it, there is nothing like it, no substitute. L7 owners love them.

Try and hear a well-set-up L7 in a car and decide for yourself.
A W6v2 is a class woofer, you wouldn't go far wrong with it in a quality enclosure.

The v2 is a lot more expensive woofer though, you're not really comparing similar woofers...

I thought the v2 retails for around $1100? whilst the L7 around $700....

Yea the 12w6 v2 is far better than the L7. The w6 is a very high end driver, as Bodyjar said it costs like a $1000 for the JL.

Can I respectfully suggest either the IDQ12 at $549 or IDMAX12 at $849. The IDQ is the direct competitor for the W6 and costs considerably less while the IDMAX is the W7 competitor and once again is much cheaper. Just out of interest the JL12W6 sells for US$199 on caraudioshopping.com. The IDQ12 sells for US$149. As I mentioned in a previous post, it is always a good idea to check on US prices of US products your are considering purchasing to see whether you are getting a fair deal.

Go for the JL if you have the dollars to spend. i don't think anyone is ever dissapointed with what they can do.
