Hi guys , i have 2 of the older model Blaupunkt overdrive subs 400rms dvc..Ive decided i want to use 1 in a sealed box for sq and use the other in a ported box for some extra spl.Im after a box size for each type of box, im thinkin around 45-50 litres sealed and about 64 litre ported to about 26hz they sound ok? heres the specs
QTS- 0.400
VAS- 96.28
FS- 24.00hz
Xmas- 13.2mm just out of curiosity would 1 sealed 12" in a largish box be ample for a vl boot? Thanks guys.

Yeah, those sizes sound ok.. You could go a little smaller if you wanted.. One 12 should be ample for SQ, even when its in a VL.

okie dokie the sealed box is pretty simple i reckon, just been looking at the manual for the subs its mentions 2cft 4th order bandpass with these specs
2cft
f3-low 35hz
f3-hi 75hz
1.1 cft vented front chamber
port tune freq 50hz 3"port 4.7" long
0.9 sealed rear chamber
at the end it says 35-75hz bandwidth crying out for a serious "beating"......hehe ,would that be a good setup in a vl sedan with the port/s up thru the shelf with the boot sealed off?

Vented box for the 12" OD is 3cu.ft with a 420mm 4" inside diameter vent. it should give nice rolloff and plenty of low bass. Sealed box would be 1.5cu.ft.

The problem with the bandpass, is the upper f3 will be less than 75hz once you take into account the cars transfer function - you'd need to tune much higher..
As far as ported boxes go, you could go down to about 1.5 cu/ft net - but of course the port lengths will be pretty long..

ok thanks for that..
Bassaholic any suggestions as to how high i should look at tuning allowing for the transfer function and what not? Also does the volume of the 2 chambers sound reasonable or should i increase the volume of either 1 ? Thanking you.
