A friend of mine is considering getting a Nakamichi Deck for his car.

Can anyone gime me any feedback/info on Quality/Value for money on decks or any of the components they sell?

Is Nak Is Good
i looked at getting the CD-400 a couple of weeks ago but ended up going with the RF for a bargain price instead, they're awesome headunits but not what you would want if you're the showy type. they're very plain, understated and simple in every respect. but its the sound that counts in the end, so of course it depends on your/his priorities, just have a good look at one before buying one to get your own opinions first

Naka make great gear. I’d prefer to think of their minimalist looks as “refined” rather than “boring”! They don’t have a lot of whiz-bang features either, but they are a top quality product.

nakamichi are excellent product as most people will tell you. back in the days when tape decks were the main source unit available, nakamichi made the best tape deck in the world, and it was a commonly agreed thing.

while i haven't auditioned their car cd player myself, you can certainly be confident its worth a listen. the only thing that held me back from getting one were rumours, that i could never confirm, about skipping problems and returns. then you speak to lots of owners, and they say their unit has operated flawlessly. go figure

but yeah the appearance is understated, but gives a nice home audio look. there was a review of the nak cd-45z in 'car audio' magazine a few years ago, see if you can get ahold of it.
