Well i had my heart set on getting my pg titanium today but as always happens a spanner has been thrown into the works..... i spied a Hertz Air Mille 3000 for quite a good price (>$300 brand new and not saying where ). Just wanting to get some impressions of this sub in an sq setup....i know a few people have/had them but not many (marc r used to have one from memory?). The reason i am considering the hertz is because i have heard so many good things about their high energy series of subs and dont want to possibly buy the wrong sub. Also it isnt hooked up so i have neva heard one of these subs before.

It will be going into a 2.1ft^3 box and i am going to display it inverted so the nice backplate of the magnet is exposed. Will this enclosure be too big/small and will inverting be a problem?

How do they sound overall compared to subs of similar money (PG titanium, JL 12w3 etc)? and will 500wrms be enough to get them cranking??

Cheers for ya help

I have a fair idea where you spotted them .

Go the Hertz!

They are fairly efficient, so 500wrms should be fine.

I have an Air Mille 3000 and am pushing 600W Rms into it, though I 500 is enough. Its my first sub and have to say blends well with my system. Great for SQ IMO but can't compare with other subs.
Unsure about SPL as well.

I believe Marc is currently using one, so he'll probably post his opinion here soon

What i want to know, is where you can get them for $300? The new RRP is $579 for the AIR 3000.

I'm currently using the 15" Air Mille and it remains my personal choice for Sound Quality in a free air setup.

Beware though, feed them plenty of power to get them moving

For that price.... I'd buy 4

Most probably sell it as i need the extra money to pay for text books at uni...might keep it for spl comps thou...

And they r very legit just the retailer isnt stocking hertz anymore and wants to get rid of em....

Well it will be running off a pg xs2500 amp that was birthed at 540rms so i hope this will be enough....but now i think my mind is made up...thanks for the help guys

i just got mine, still working on the box, should have it running in an hr or 2

its a beautfiul sub!! gonna invert it huuuge magnet.

it will be in a sealed box.

Spec there were 2 left after i got mine (i saved the 1 in the box 4 ya)

mine was a demo sub from the wall but they still had the manual and box

guy told me rrp is $749, even though now its $579.. but thats alright i guess

i said it should be better than my type s and he sounded doubtfull at first but then he said he guess it would cause of the price

Spec if ya haven't got it yet get in quick cause i think some1 has dibs on the 2nd sub and hes gettin it friday

hmm well its good but not much better than my old sub

its not hitting the lows very well
does that most likely mean that its just not run in???

it seemed to distort easily.. maybe i've just got my gains wrong.. i don know..

and also, since its inverted, i've reversed the speaker wires + wire on - terminal and - wire on + terminal

it just seems very floppy with big bass..

bah i might just be worrying 2 much

Subatomic, the Air Mile subwoofers are a free air sub, meaning that they optimally work without the need of an enclosure. This isn't to say that they can't be mounted in a box though. What size box? How much power?
