Here's the story. I just bought a brand new car. And I am getting a lot of new stuff. I've basically ordered everything already and am just waiting for them to arrive. Some of the equipment has been transfered over from my old car.
These are what I have decided to go with:
Alpine CDA-7894
Image Dynamics CD-2 Comp MH HLCD
Image Dynamics 6.5" Midbass
Image Dynamics CS 1.X Crossover
Rockford Fosgate 500X running the mids at 250Wx2
Rockford Fosgate 500bd for Sub at 600W x 1
Kicker Solobaric S12L5
Phoenix Gold TBAT Balanced line driver
PG EQ230 30 band 1/3 octave EQ
Clarion ESQ560 5 band Preamp
RF 1 Farad Capacitor & Wiring
These will all be fitted into a Rav4. Anyways, this is the first time I will be delving into the world of SQ. With the ID horns, i am hoping to achieve something good. =)
Anyways, I just want to hear from you guys what your opinions are for the components I have chosen. I really am just a newbie wishing to draw on the amount of experience that you guys have.
Also a couple of questions:
1) When I chose to upgrade the system in the future, what should I be looking at? I am personally looking at changing the amps, running an active crossover and switching to Dynaudios 8's for the midbass. Is this the right path to go?
2) I have never mounted horns in my life and if anyone has any pics to show me of horn mounts, I will have a better idea. And what is the reputation of the HLCD's i have chosen. Are they of good stead?
3) If I do decide to compete in SQ, what do you recommend me to do? Do I even stand a chance? What about rules, etc?
4) Tuning wise, how do I go about tuning this system properly? RTA?
5) Anyone in victoria with good experience in horns in which I can meet up and discuss how to make full potential of my system. Always good to talk to someone with good experience.
6) what will be a good enclosure size for the woofer? And should I look at upgrading it first? I have in mind a brahma or something else. What's a good woofer to go together with the system.
I really want to hear some input so I can make the best of the $$ i spent and possibly learn more about high-end SQ systems.
Sorry if I nay come off sounding cocky, etc... Just want to hear more from experienced people.
Any and all input appreciated..
Kit Tan

u have sum realli great components there!
however, you say that you're a "noob", and im just questioning if the complexity of the system your heading towards maybe a bit out of ur debt. as many ppl have said, components play a big part of SQ, but so do installation and tuning, and the more complicated and the more components u add to a system, the more chances you have to make mistakes. i always like to follow the "KISS" saying. (keep it simple stupid)
for instance, i hear horns take a helluva lot of work to get installed, and a **** load of time to EQ to get sounding rite.
if you've already got all the components then good luck mate!! hope you get it all working well! hell id be happi with all the stuff you've got there. once youve got it all sorted out im sure it will sound great, just put lots of time into gettin it rite
cheers

Anyways, my stuff has begun arriving. The horns and woofer will be here monday =) Hopefully can get things started then....
Dazdillinger: I'm having personal help with installation... so i guess i'll be alright...
The ID crossovers won't work for my horns, so I'm going active baby!!
Hopefully will be happy with the system...
Regards,
Kit Tan
PS. I'm very exited
