G'day,
well, to anyone out there who owns a bmw and is thinking of putting in a subwoofer/s, do it. after months of people telling me it wouldn't work and that it wouldn't sound too good. i put two 10"s in and it sounds awesome. i am unable to see out of my rear window becuase the whole thing vibrates too much. i was sceptical, and went ahead with it. as some would know, bmw's are built like a brick craphouse, you can barely drill or put anything anywhere into doors etc. because you'll be cutting into metal. i put two in and the sound is great. my mates now refuse to sit in the back seat because it makes them feel sick in the stomach. so if anyone out there is doubtful of hearing bass in their car, just do it and it will all work out. i will hopefully have a few pics of my boot install in the coming week.
if there is anyone out there with a sound system in their bmw and want to talk to me about it, i would be more than interested. i love hearing about beemers and modifications to them because they remain rare.
just a quick question. if your boot is rattling or vibrating, will replacing the bootlid seal stop or reduce it??

Good on ya' mate. I can't believe your friends told you it can't be done. Of course it can be done. And done very well by some people I might add.

Now that you have bass, it's time to sound-deaden your car (unless of course you like the rattling - good for slow cruisin')

changing the rubber boot seal will have virtually no impact on rattles caused by bass. those rattles come from vibrations between locks rods, plastic dress panels, resonanting steel panels, clips, cables and between the boot skin and skeleton.

address all those things and you will get a quiet boot takes a while but its worth it.

yeah T-Bro is right.
I did search thru the boot and the noise also come from the no. plate. since the plate get fixed and found the rest are behide the no. plate

due to bmw has a well built metal body to reduce the noise spread over the car, so the low power amp and sub would not show a decent effect on a bmw comparing to some japanese car.(maybe the reason of some ppl say the sound not too good)

but if you are looking for some serious bass, there are some alternatives, I found some info on the US web-site which suggests removing the rear speakers and let the bass pass thru the holes - now the boot likes a band bass sub, BUT, other noises will also get into the interior.

another choice: upgrade to a more powerful amp running your sub

another thing, but sorry for off topic.........
except the bass, does anyone experienced where is the best position to mount the tweeter for the front stage on their 3-series to have a best sound image for their car?

cheers

the model is the 95 E36 coupe
I'm going to run a diamond hex series with the aluminium tweeter at the front.
I'm thinking of put the tweeter to the original stock position, but seems it may block some of the sound from the dash board and steering wheel for the driver side.
So, I'm considering to place the tweeter upfront on the dash board at both sides corner, and a bit facing the centre of the windscreen so that
the sound reflects from windscreen and the sound seems coming from the centre windscreen itself.
Would this be a good idea?

Thanks !
