I am looking at getting 2 PG Octane-R 12Ds (based on comments on this forum, still have to audition them though). But I got to thinking that I might be better off getting a single higher quality sub.

What I want, reasonable/good SQ sub (I want to compete in amature class) but I also want to get some big output for daily driving (so I can make myself deaf before I am 30 )

I listen to all kinds of music and decided that 12's would be my best bet, I drive a commodore sedan.

Looking at $500 max for the driver(s).

Thanks

I aint heard the Octane R's, but I have heard a Hertz 12" in a sealed box up against an older PG 12" in a ported box and that Hertz was tighter and louder than the PG sub. So maybe look at the Hertz, which is the same price as the Octane R's and if ya can, have a listen to em off the same amp.

thats the problem though, hertz may go friggin loud in the right enclosure and with plenty of power, but it aint a SQ sub

but hertz subs are now so insanely cheap, it is hard to pass up such quality gear
