Hi all,
Just setting up my system in the new car and there is no way I'm going to fit my 8"/4" Canton splits in those tiny flimsy doors. Even building pods is virtually impossible with the armrest position and the fact that I'd have to build out heaps and lose legroom. I also have big feet so a kick panel install might be an issue if there's little depth behind them. So anyway what I'm wondering is this - I have a 4 channel amp that normally runs the splits bridged. I'm thinking of running the 4s and tweets off channels 1&2 in the front doors with the standard x-over, then the 8s off channels 3&4 in the parcel shelf. I have an Alpine PRA-H400 digital x-over/time alignment processor that can low pass signal to channels 3&4. Then I will just set the usual amount of delay on the front stage but with signal to the 8s (in the parcel shelf) arriving at the same time as the subs. Has anyone ever attempted this before with success? Sounds ok in theory but may not work in reality. FYI the car is a 99 WRX.
Cheers.

You have some quality gear and I think the install would be letting it down a bit.
The time alignment will improve the situation but not make it perfect. Might be better to get some 6.5" splits and lose the 8"s.

mid bass is directional - you will notice that it is coming from behind you.
But if that doesn't bother you, then go ahead and try it.

It wont work. You could get a great rear stage but TA cane fix Midbass down the back.

Yeah my poor little pipedream I guess even delaying fronts won't help the directional nature of midbass. Thanks for the responses guys, time to whip out the tin snips or sell my beloved Cantons.
