Hi All,
Another newbie question for you all.
I'm looking at building up a system starting with a HU, front splits and rear speakers and probably adding a sub + amp later on.
I've looked around a bit here in Adelaide and have come up with the following so far:
Eclipse 3403
Eclipse front splits in 6"
Eclipse rear 5.25" speakers.
This is going to cost around $1000. Would anyone have any other suggestions or options? The car is a 94 WRX wagon and I am stuck with 5.25" speakers for the rear and 6" splits for the front.
I like the Eclipse HU because it is plain without lots of flashing lights/graphics (I'd buy a Nakamichi if I could afford it).
Thanks

Yes the sh9105 looks very nice but it's $999 - there goes my entire budget and no speakers yet
Some of the other JVC HU's look OK but I'm really after a plain looking unit - not one with lots of graphics,

i had the 3421 so i know you mean about its appeal, nice sounding too only thing i didn't and still dont like (and the reason i havent bought another one) is the lack of the detachable face, as imo a drugged out retard window shopping who see's my car with it won't know about esn
any reason for the eclipse speakers too? or just to be symmetrical? not that they're overly bad, just id be looking at a 6" split for the front over a coax any day if you dont mind mounting a tweeter somewhere

Yes - that is one thing that puts me off but I figured the thing looks pretty bland so hopefully it wouldn't rate a second glance. Another option could be a Nak 35z possibly - not too much more and still looks kind of bland but also has a detachable face.
The Eclipse splits I just sort of saw at the same time (they are 6" splits for the front) and they sounded OK so thought why not - I'm certainly open to other options though. Dyns get a good rap but are a little dear,

The eclipse and nakamichi HU's are both excellent options. However I would recommend you consider getting better front stage splits for now and buying rear fill later on. My first I bought front and rear speakers - I should have bought a better front stage and kept my stock rear speakers. Your front stage speakers are the most important part of your system. $500-600 will get you a decent pair of front stage splits and if you try the forums you could do even better. I picked up a set of a/d/s 346is splits (6.5") worth $1700 virtually brand new for $650. Best money I have ever spent.
just a thought to consider

All,
Thanks for the advice - I ended up going for an Alpine CDA-9813 HU and a set of Rockford front splits. I'll leave the rears alone for now and in the future will likely move the Rockford's into the rear and spend more money on some good fronts,
