Hi there. Just wnated your opinion here people. I am looking at buying some new splits for the car. The 2 I am looking at the moment are the Cadence (Not sure of the model but they are about $320)and the Eclipse SC83362. Or should I even look at Hertz HSK-165 's? Your input would be appreciated.

The amp I'm using is a Hertz H420.

Eclipse and Cadence aren't exactly known for speaker their speaker manufacturing prowess.

I’d go with the Hertz option, but try to have a listen to Boston and CDT as well they both make great speaker systems in that price range.

I installed a pair of the Eclipse splits on Monday...very nice speakers...laid back treble, detailed midrange, plenty of midbass not bad speakers for the money...I can't comment of the Cadence as I havn't listened to a pair...the best thing to do is track em dowm and audition them...

Audition, Audition, Audition.

People have had good results with the HSK165. I heard a pair in a magna and it was quite nice. I wouldnt complain for ... $250 or whatever.

Work with your budget. Can prolly pick up PG tantrum splits from webaudiodirect.

Dunno how they sound but people have said the lower model Octanes sound great.

Go the Eclipse have a set myself, another brand to try are Focal or the new Alpine DD linear.
Cadence I was told was in a diffrent market.
At the end of the day your ears will select the right speaker for you, let your ears be the judge.
try diffrent shops & take your own CD's.

Well guys, I went into DB Fever today and listened to the Hertz and wasn't overly excited by them. I like the sound of the Eclipse though. Marc recommended the Phoeniz Gold Tantrum splits and it looks like I might be heading that way. Wish I could audition them though.

And sorry Marc for not coming back this afternoon I got caught up. Will be in to see you though.

i would say focals are the best for low end ... i got jl xrs and these retail for way more than the focals .. but the focals are clearer .. however they were just too bright for me at times ... these jls are softer .... and so suit my style of music better ... once again listen to as much as u can and remember that the speakers will sound differently in your car!!
