Hi,

I'm looking at modifying my install, replacing my Dyn 240GT's with 360's up front (mids and tweets in kicks and 8" in door pods), and using the tweets from the 240GT's as ambient tweeters in the dash. I'm also gonna throw some rear fill in for a change... mainly for my passengers, but also to add a little 'rear ambience'.

At the moment I'm considering using the midwoofers from the 240GT's as the rears with a 12db LPF at about 4000hz. The purpose of this is to stop the rears from becoming too directional and dragging the soundstage backwards (I don't care if my passengers don't get fullrange sound at the back).

What do you guys think about this rear setup?? Will this work ok (Anyone tried it?)? Will it add to or simply destroy the soundstage in my car? Would I be better off just throwing in some 5" coaxials in the back and only fading them in when I have passengers in??

Any thoughts appreciated.

Michael

Have a look at this graph
http://www.dynaudiousa.com/products/car/dr...ivers/160gt.htm
From what I've read rearfill should be bandpassed 400-7000Hz.
This graph shows a 12dB rolloff from 4000Hz built into the design of the MW160GT so you won't need to lowpass this driver.
I was going to use Dynaudio midbass drivers for rearfill but decided to use some Kef drivers that roll off closer to 7000Hz.

Edit to fix URL

Thanks guys,

GTS_t, i was looking to low pass the driver just to stop any extra info being sent to it. I know it's not really needed, but i figured high frequencies could possibly introduce some distortion..?
