just like any hi-fi component, be it home or car, its only in an extended listen that you can really guage the ability of a speaker. esotars, z6s, dls, cdt, focal, mbs bla bla.... they're all expensive investments. chose carefully and make sure you're happy.
i couldn't stand the speakers i, now, have at home, the first time i heard them. as i worked with them more and more, listen more and more critically and played with more system setup/matching etc... did i begin to see the positives of dyn ownership. now, it'd have to be a fairly amazing speaker to make me want to revert to the "other" sound.
the moral of this story is that dyn's may not blow you away first listen. don't base your opinions on a short audition because they probably won't impress... but give them a chance and they may just prove their worth.
