Hey guys!

I was talking to fuddbutter on another forum - i'm here in the states by the way (yes yes - i get

to be the guy whos differant and live in the states for once - not the other way around - where

i'm on a forum with all normal people and then there is the occasional person from outside the

states that joins up! - yey - i feel special!)

Anyway - i am wondering if you guys can help - i am a bit of a nonconventional kind of guy (you

win a cookie if you know about the various company's i have in my car - no kicker or kenwoods in

my blazer!) - anyway - yeah - why would i be here if i conformed to the normal everyday person!

I am a car audio enthusiast (if you know about the speakers i have in my car - you will see that)

- not the expensive all out enthusiast - the guy who gets the best 'bang for the buck'!

And now i have decided to sell my adire audio brahma 12 (i have a video if anyone wants to see a

2 inch peak to peak excursion sub in slow-motion online - its really cool if you have not seen

what a brahma can do) - and buy a pair of 15inch subs for my blazer.

I am looking for some subs that are a bit odd - you know - what are the chances that some small

company in austraila has ever been heard of here in the states (not many i bet!) - so yeah -

thats why i'm here - i have currently decided to go with the stryke audio av15's (www.stryke.com)

but i am still debating - i may decide to get some other subs if you guys can help me out

Here is my very specific things i need to have in a sub:

* Very SQ oriented - SQL is fine - but i don't want something that sounds like crap!
* 2 ohm final impedance - both subs can be 4ohm single voice coil, dual 2 ohm vc's, dual 8 ohm

vc's - as long as it is no lower than 2 ohms.
* Must be able to handle easily 450 watts
* Subs will be in sealed box - should work well in a sealed enclsosure (no space for 2 15inch

ported subwoofer boxes!)
* Must be less than $200 USD each (hey - i don't mind shipping - if i get to say my subs come

from the country i dream of visiting some day - thats cool enough for me! - so i wouldn't mind

paying $80 for shipping)

If you guys can think of anything for me - let me know - i'd love to hear some suggestions -

remember - i'm the nonconventional kind of guy - sorry JL audio, Kenwood, Sony, Alpine, Rockford

- no THANK YOU!!

lol

(by the way - for the record i am a 19 year old college kid in delaware (i'll give ya a piece of

candy if you can find delaware on a map!) - and i've been a car audio/home audio enthusiast for

over 2 years - i installed 100% of this system myself as well as many other's for friends. I have

a small home theater speaker company of my own where i build small budget high SQ speaker systems

for customers. And i am majoring in electrical engineering in hopes to work for or start up my

own small company here in the united states - so i am not a newbie at least by my own standards!)

(congratulations - you made it to the bottom of the post!)

Try Total Recoil from Melbourne, Australia .
They are actually real SQ woofers, despite the SPL...sorta Australia's DD.....

The site is a bit dodgy at the moment, but email Boyd and you will have something different than everyone else in the States, and good!!!

Not sure about how their 15s fit the description, but they can prolly make something just how you want it, really!!

Delaware is inbetween Maryland and pennsylvania, and id say about half way between New York and wqshington. About 2 hour drive on a good day form either NY or DC. OK I want candy lol

Total Recall was going to be what Id suggest too. To be honest I dont think anyone here actually makes drivers, as even Companies like Whatmough (aussie speaker co) use drivers from OS. they do Home stuff BTW

TR would def be the big small name for speakers in Australia.

Apart from them the only one I can think of is Sounds Xplosive here in WA, whi can do custom subs (I've seen a few of his 12" subs with 4" VC's moving, fairly impressive). If you want real one offs, its one way to get them.

Welcome to CAA

So your looking for something a little different. I rekon I might have a nice solution for you

There is a company in australia that produces speakers for the world stage (quality!). They have recently begun producing car stereo equipment aswell. Lorantz Audio, send a private message to "Roddas77" he runs 2 x 12" Lorantz Audio subs and knows heaps about the company. I rekon he could give you some usefull information.

If you dont mind useing home audio gear. Then there is a place in South Australia called "VAF Research". They are suppost to be the makers of some of the WORLD's best speakers. VAF Home Page
I'm sure if you talk to them they will also be able to help you out.

Enjoy!

he he - good job - your candy is on the way - you just have to pay shipping and handling

thanks guys - fuddbutter reccomended total recoil as well - i'll definately give them a look over.

and as far as "custom sub company's" Here in the states - we have a few company's that design their subs - but have other OEM companys build them - its actually been becoming more and more popular.

such as resonant engineering ( www.respl.com )
Adire audio ( www.adireaudio.com )
Elemental Designs ( www.edesignaudio.com )

I'm looking for you know - smaller company's - nothing custom - i don't think i can afford to have speakers custom built to my specs!

thanks alot for the suggestions thus far - i'll take a look around.
