Hi Guys

Well I've narrowed my decision from THIS thread to these 2. The IDMAX 12 and DD 3512.

While Im going to listen to these woofers myself to decide and have had a play in bassbox, I would also like your opinions on which would play the best in a small sealed box (max 50L / 1.7cf). All personal opinions on the brands set aside please I'm after the SQ aspects only.

They will have roughly 1.4kw rms @ 1 ohm powered most likely from a A7HC.

I would definately go for the IDMAX, it will play around 17Hz lower in the same 50L sealed enclosure (-3db at about 50Hz according to WinISD)... Also, it has a slightly higher Qts, which indicates it is likely better suited to a sealed enclosure.

Can I ask where you can get the IDMax from here in adelaide? Is one of the local car audio stores selling image dynamics gear??

thats funny, Bassbox says -3db is 35.99hz in a 50L sealed box (IDMAX).. big difference

As for ID in SA, PM Hutch, I need to arrange an audition too

I would go the IDMAX, as i believe it has slightly more linear displacement than the Digital Designs.

The IDMAX appears to play lower too.

If you have 50lt, I'd go ported. A ported box will go lower, play louder with less power and sound better.

Both are very nice subs, listen to both and decide which one is for you.

Just put a DD3510 in my sq car, 43L ported box excluding port area and speaker displacement, turned to 29htz.

Intergrates very well with the front stage (low pass set at 60htz). SQ is very good as well, but since I haven't listened to an idmax I can't make any comparisons.

And as phil mentioned, if you have room to build a ported box, do it. Well worth the effort to get a flat response.

QUOTE (RMA @ Feb 6 2010, 01:22 AM) My only regrets are:
Selling Fudd an amp (for a fraction of the real price) that had been returned by Autobarn Geelong which had been incorrectly used by AB Geelong and turned out to be faulty when Fudd started using it.
Whilst he was given a new amp after it could not be fixed, he never acknowledged any of the assistance given and bitches to this day about it.
