I'm interested in these two splits. What are your thoughts on either one and which is better?

Focal and JL are both high quality brands, find a store and audition both to help you make up your mind...

obviously ensure they phat baskets of the focal K2 fit into your car easily.

i've not auditioned the JL's, so cannot comment. but the focal's are nice (i haven't auditioned the latest version though).

edit: my bad, i thought you were speaking about the K2 focal's. the polyglass V series are also nice though. but i haven't auditioned the series 2 either.

The JL's retail at around $400. I got mine for $288 at JB Hi-Fi and am very happy with them. I haven't heard the Focals though.

I installed a pair of the JL's today into a Lancer...not too bad but I prefer the Focals...I thought the JL's sound about on a par with PG Octanes/Alpine SPR 175A's etc...but not quite on the Focals level...don't take my word for it though...research,research,research

I have a set of 6.5" 2-Way Polyglasses in my car, and haven't really considered the need for an upgrade and have had them for a year and a half now.
Only running em off a small soundstream rubicon 202 but they take all the power easily and seem to keep up with the overwhelming bass from the strokers down back.

I listen to all types of music from rock, techno, trance, R&B, and alternative and my ears love the sound from all areas...

The key is to go audition as many different types of splits as u can, so u know exactly what u have to choose from, so u can actually make a choice on what you like.

Happy shopping

Have u considered infinity? They make some nice splits in your price range. The 6.5" kappa series sound pretty sweet to my ears, but audition as many as u can with all different types of music, that's the only way to know what's best for you.

Cheers :D
