i wouldn't get pedantic about it. let's just say that manufacturers like alpine produce products that combine together for good results. for example, it's not like their most powerful amp offers 300WRMS but their sub can handle 1000WRMS.

they have stuff like type-R subs that match perfectly with M500 monoblocs. they're multichannel amps are super powerful, but their splits perform optimally with under 100WRMS anyway. etc, etc.
