Soundstream Da Vinci is only US$799.99 (approx AUD$1025) from Woofers etc

http://www.woofersetc.com/product.asp?3=2337

If only I had the money!!!

and most of the other soundstream amps seem a bit too cheap.

anyone know what's up with this?

had a bad experience with woofersetc a few years ago. used them cos i wanted a lightning audio product not available in australia at the time.

but won't be doing that again in a hurry. took about 4 months to get the items after paying for them and heaps, and heaps of hassles with emails getting them to send it.

US prices can be cheap though. especially as most of the online 'stores' deal with 'parallel imports' or the 'grey market'. that is, direct imports from the factory, bypassing the official authorised distributors. as such, no warranty outside of the US and won't be backed here (fixable of course...at a price).

A number of CAA Members including myself have had bad experiences with Woofersetc, I strongly advise you to act carefully dealing with them.

I paid for a PAIR of Focal Audiom TLR tweeters, but got only one. Never did get the other !

I believe the new price drops are a comibination of moving manufacturing offshore (to korea?) and the fact SS are trying (hard) to regain some of the market they once held before their "dubious quality" days a couple of years ago...

I know a couple of people who've used places like indoaudio.com to order stuff and it's always arrvied (albeit somewhat dubiously packaged and insured...) - but yeah really only heard bad things about woffersetc

Pft, I'm going active 3ways and using my a/d/s/ to do so :D

Wouldn't buy a Da Vinci as Stik79 said.
Better alternative would be millionbuy.com

Andy Jones, IASCA Street X SQL is code for "I half ass everything." Basically you are saying you are not loud enough to do SPL, and have no idea what it takes to do Sound Quality. So you meet in the middle with a quiet system that sounds like ass. Good job at being mediocre.
