Hey,

This is pure speculation but here goes, 8)

Do you think it would be possible to mount 8" JL W7's in the front of the car on either sides, in addition to my a set of splits (ie incl. the 6.5" woofer) and a 12" sub in the boot.

What do you think this would sound like, would it give the midbass strength and punch and improve it heaps or would it simply cloud the soundstage and sound crap?

Thanks
Adrian :D

commondoorboy - yes very much crap. I think best u stop thinking.

edit - Dunno how that would go since most 8's that are mounted in doors are infinit baffle woofers. Do the W7's suit free-air?

The loading effect of the sub in the boot will never be matches by just 8's in the doors.

Also the depth of the W7's make it veyr hard to mount in the front of the car. Why did you even choose the W7 for?

I have some 8's upfront in my doors in 1/4cubic foot sealed enclosure. The depth of them is no where near that of a W7 though.

If i was doing a setup like this, i'd make custom door trims with 8inch subs in the doors, in sealed enclosures. I'd then have some 4inch splits it the kick panels.

The subs in the doors will easily play up to 200hz, and the 4's would play down to 200hz with ease.

OK, lets see.
Why dont you mount the Dyns in the kicks and put the 8s in a door build?
Run the front end fully active and I would bandpass the eights from 60hz to 200hz
In terms of subs to keep up, going along with the JL theme I think two W7 13s would B great. a DE3000 us amps to run the subs and another two of the Tru Tech amps you have to run the rest active off of.
Or buy the SH1 that is on the forum to keep it all TRU TECH.
OR...
So many options so little time to recover from RSI. LOL

Should be interesting, I would have something like the MTX LSB1 to turn on/off the 12, although I think it would be an interesting install nonetheless...if you are going to all that work might as well rearrange the firewall and place the subs directly in front.

Andy Jones, IASCA Street X SQL is code for "I half ass everything." Basically you are saying you are not loud enough to do SPL, and have no idea what it takes to do Sound Quality. So you meet in the middle with a quiet system that sounds like ass. Good job at being mediocre.

adrian if you want to show us how you have too much money that you are struggling to get rid of it, THEN this is the choice of front stage. Definitely would be EXTREMELY impressive if setup correctly....wow it would be awesome. Im just jealous since i can not afford to do this myself

go for it if you have the time and money...but there are cheaper ways to make a great front stage.

a high quality set of 5 1/4 spits with something like a dd 6.5 mounted ib in the door would really be excellent.

by all reports the focal power version 2 (the crazy yellow midbass units) 3 way split system is an excellent choice (loud with great midbass)

You were getting everyone's hopes up there!
Mind you, that'd have to be one hell of a build out.... think "F250" for choice of vehicle!

I think I'm a little over supreme setups :(

6 months with a new car, and I've got an amp and a set of front speakers.

Or I could just be lazy.

I put Dynaudio 8" woofers in enlcosures in the front of a 95 Civic and a 98 Integra.

The Monaro I'm doing now is getting DD 3510s in the front floor.

It's possible but it takes a lot of work.

stick 8" subs in the doors, and listen to the aweful effects of door rattle and its degradation of sound quality. you can have the tightest, punshiest midbass in the world, but if your car is rattling, it simply wont sound right. something to consider anyway.

I'm pretty sure well built sealed boxes should solve most of those problems :)
