has anyone experienced these or have any opinion on them? my friend has a pair, they have been shuffled around the car a fair bit, and we are wondering if its worth doing anything with them for rearfill.... well... actually... one of them died, and they are being returned to Alpine (hopefully to be replaced with new ones) would it be better to sell the new ones and maybe buy something else, or just use them?? thanx

they are rated at 15 or 20 or 25watts rms... 40 or 60 or 80watts peak... don't ya just love the specs?

anyway, i reckon if you have already got them use them and see what they sound like then take them out and have a listen and see what you like best

i had a set for 6 months running off the headunit, they were ok, just know their limitations.

tweeter fortunately wasn't overly bright, midrange wasn't too bad for a $100 speaker but the midbass wasn't good at all, i guess as with many 4" speakers.

as rear fill they should be fine, but depending on what you have in the front, it may alter your sound stage to something a little wierd (different tonality from the front and rear speakers as you move you head)

well....... so far, from what I've heard of them, I wouldn't agree at all really...

the tweeters sounded very nice to me.... and quite impressive midbass for a 4inch in my opinion.... it seems there are 3 different models... or atleast two.... and we kinda found their limitations.... :?

i had the model previous to the current series if that makes any difference to help your decision

the reason why i said fortunately the tweeters weren't over harsh was because they were firing directly into the windscreen.

ok.. apparently these speakers are Type S.... well... Chris got his replacements today.... and ..... they are Type E... TADA!! lol

and the SPS-1029S are still on the alpine website

wtf is Type E? :?
