9512 - RRP $1249
Haven't heard as many ID's getting loud as you do DD's.
Hard to compare the 2 when the DD is 50% more expensive than the ID. Probably bettter off comparing the ID to the 3512, as they're similar in price.
What car and what amp(s)?

But since i haven't heard a DD i can compare it sorry.
But for SQ you rarely see DD mentioned, and for Loud you don't see IDMAX mentioned very much either. But mine one goes loud and tight.

the DD for SPL
having said that, i hear the IDMAX's are very good for spl IF you've got limited power.
the DD will go louder, but require more power.

If you want a driver focused on SQ, look to the 9100 series, cheaper than a 9500, with less power handling (1600 vs 2400W musical power handling). These are sure to impress.
I'm running a pair of 3510s in my car atm, everyone who's heard them has been impressed, all the way down to below 30Hz. Depending on how much power you're going to run the 3500 (1600W) might be the best option. We have customers who run D2s at 1ohm on 3500s no problem at all.
Best thing to do, is have a listen to both speakers (DD, ID or whatever)and see which does it for you. There's a lot of happy DD and ID customers out there, I'm sure you can tee-up a demo.

infact the only ID's i've heard were icebreaker's at FB.
the ID is good for making good bottom end, and is a very details sub.
Tony doran's the man if you wanna look at the DD's but he doesn't have any on display, unless you're lucky enough to catch one of his customer's car in his shop.
i don't knwo of any IDMAX's for demo, but Marty @ Fhrx sells them, give him a call, he MIGHT be able to sort out a demo.
Tony Doran also sells them, but again i'm pretty sure he doens't have any for demo.(infact he mightn't stock them anymore, i'm not sure)
