A friend needs an inexpensive 10" sub that will work OK in a 12Litre box.
He thought I was joking when I recommend an IDQ at $375 so can anyone suggest an entry level sub (<$150) that could do the job?

That the nice thing about a sealed box, just try a basic sub and it will either sound like a$$ or really surprise you. 12L is about 1/2 cu.ft. give or take a c. hair, I would try a Lightning Audio s3.10.4 sub in that box.

well.... the 10inch sony Xplods reccomend 21litres sealed... (I'm talking about the old ones, model number XS-L1036) if you model that in winisd, and then compare it to the response in a 12litre sealed box, you only loose about 2dB at 30Hz.... and depending on the car, you may even end up with a flatter response.... just an idea, you may be surprised at the response of many subs in small sealed boxes....

I'd be looking at Clarion's 10inch range. Seem to work very well in small sealed enclosures and don't require much power to get pumping. I had my old clarion running off about 100wrms in a very small sealed enclosure and it pumped.

For some ID prices goto: http://www.fastfoursforumscarclub.com/temp...s_pricelist.jpg
