pity you couldnt wait a month or so Stone..

i have the exact same splits and amp as you and i will be soon changing the amp configuration..
and i will be venturing down the active Dyn 240GT path, with the new pods starting in a week or so.. i will also be using the current LRx2.500 amp within my config..
LRx2.500 - Dyn midbass
LRx2.250 - Dyn tweeters

im keen to see how these will sound off more power, altho i know that im feeding a little much to the tweeters.. but they do have to soon keep up with 2000+ wrms of caliber power to the dual L7's.. 8)

Horns generally range between $500 a pair and  $15000 a pair for car audio.

I bought my Crossfire Eliptihorns really cheap, you could probably find some for under a grand.
ELH-2 is the model I chose.

Use the Dyn Tweeters in the factory locations as
imaging tweeters and use the Dyn Mids up to about 800hz or 1k run this fully active and you wont look back!

The horns will be loud and clear, the dyn tweeters will add height to the stage and the mids will handle plenty of power if they are bandpassed from say 80hz to 1khz.

Another good thisg is if you use horns you can buy "recone" diaphram replacement kits for them if they go up in smoke. (this doesn't happen all that often though)

How would running Dyns passive with tweeter attenuated and horns off a seperate amp go? Tweeter would be quiet to raise the image.

There is no more room where the tweeters are now.

still have yet to hear the "car horns" hlcd's even though ive been to the wces many times

just havent been in the right place at the right time

ive heard a lot of home systems using horns. They are very dynamic and fun

for cars ive read that you require 1/3oct eq to really make them sound their best.

good luck

That is exactly what i am planning for my car! :-)
