A quick call for help -
I'm running the following setup:
Alpine 9811 HU, Audison LRX 2.500 into Dynaudio 240GTs
Alpine t757 into JL 10W3

At a certain volume level - a short period at high volume, or a longer period at moderate volume, the audison cuts out - the "safety" light comes on and it must be turned off before it starts working again, whereupon the same thing happens...
Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks Chris

not sure if this is it but, have you checked all the cables to make sure there is no shorts anywhere, ie remote, ground etc.

I had an amp that used to cut in and out intermittently and it was one one the terminals that was cracked. mabey check to see if they are ok.

I'd be checking your installation at the speakers themselves. Make sure your connections to the speakers aren't shorting out on the chassis etc., and are a good solid connection.

How hot does the amplifier get when it shuts off?
If in doubt, do a search and then ask questions!

The amp and HU are cool when they shut off - so i figure its not a heat safety shut-out.'
I've got some time to pull off door trims etc soon so i'll post and let you know how it goes.

you may also have a bad voltage-drop problem, with the amp going into protection when voltage drops below threshold (eg: below 11V).

this may not reflect your car's battery or alternator, but may be excessive resistance in the power circuit, particularly the ground connection.

if you have a multimeter, check the voltage across the amp terminals. also do it when the system's running and see what the voltage is when it shuts down.

so check all power connections including battery terminal, fuse/fuseholder (partially fried fuses can become highly resistive), ground, etc.

good luck :)

i have encountered the axact problem when fitting an lrx 2 channel, and it was a short on the speaker lead, but yeah if the speakers are screwed straight to metal also check the terminals, tape them up just to be sure.

Well guys,
I went over every inch of wiring in the car, tested all the voltages, came up with perfect results and when i put all the trims back on and went for a drive, it no longer has the problems.
My only theory is that there was a slight arcing problem where the spare wiring was looped around by the installer under the rear seat (looked like fat red spagetti)
Hrm. Thanks for the suggestions...
