What's involved in setting up MW170s in doors with AP membranes?
How much power can the MW170s take before this is necessary?
Where can you get AP membranes from?
I guess you would need to run them active if using AP.
Any comments or pics Phil?

if u want to tune an AP enclosure, I suggest access to a RTA will be really useful.

other than that, all i can offer is various guides i've come across.

RTA is no problem. We have an audiocontrol one at work.
I guess I need to know if the advantages are worth the effort.
Who sells them or should I make my own?
Can you post any links you think might be useful please?
Thanks.

I think you will find Hutch
(Distributor for Dynaudio who posts on the forum) actually sells/distributes them.

I know he has ones to suit larger woofers, as I have seen these on one of his price lists one of his reps sent to our work.

i am considering a APmat setup in my next system, there's not many car audio brands that make them' im using some made by image dynamics but they don't sell them any more!. USD make them and sell them for most of there woofer range' there site explains a little www.usdaudio.com

really you need an impedience meter to tune them properly, a RTA has not enough freq in the sub bass range to do it effectivly, you could make your own its just a fiberglass matt type stuff that allows sound to travel through it at a desired rate or can be ajusted buy altering the density of the material witch in turn changes the impedience curve.
with an impedience meter you 'tune' it to have the flattest curve possible.

due to there lowish efficiency?power handling it is recomended to use 15" or larger speaker to get output with little effort also because the mat simulates a optimum sealed box .

i have also been told that you should have a APmat area thats 1.5 times the area of the driver, but im not shure thats true though :)
