i think the diamond splits i've heard are the metal-dome tweeter version rather than the silk dome you suggest. but i am very impressed by their superb midrange clarity which really brings them to life and is very engaging. the metal-dome tweeter offers excellent detail; but the ones i heard were dashtop mounted and slightly bright for my liking (easily tunable via an EQ). these tweets may suits kickpanel mounting better whereas the silk dome are probably more what i like (although i was very disappointed with the rainbow splits and their silk tweeter; their metal dome is probably better!)
boston's are also excellent. very clear with high frequencies but again, i'm not such a fan of their particular metal dome tweet.
so i can't offer you a proper impression of the smaller size splits you want. but going by the 2 larger sets i've heard, i'd probably go with the diamond's in this case. silk or metal dome would be difficult for me to suggest; i did like the metal dome which are what i've heard, but careful installation may be needed. the silk dome tweet could be too 'safe' in its sound if they're anything like the rainbow ones (which they're probably not!).
