Just make sure you can inspect them before you buy.

Personalyy I price second hand speakers like this. RRP x0.70 = cost price. Then divide by 2 to get the maximum used price I would be prepared to pay.

the seller told me that "You won't hear any loss in
sound quality because of age in a kevlar speaker like the Focals" is this true ?

I think this (claf_43's quote) is the best response to your question 'backwash'.

I have a set of POLK Audio 6" splits (can't remember the model, but top of the range then) that are coming on 12 years old in November which are in my car and they do sound a bit tired, but still fantastic.

You make your mind up, but I think 'claf_43' has sumed it up in his second line which is all too true. IMO most people can't get a few years out of their speakers. It really comes down to how the owner has treated them, but he/she won't tell you if they have been trashed now will they?

Q: How do you know if you're too drunk to drive? A: You swerve to miss a tree then realise it's the air freshener hanging from the rear view mirror.

-Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

I would only buy second hand speakers if I could hear them in the owners car beforehand. And also inspect their physical condition.

And when you say cost..do u mean Retail Price, or the price that the owner paid?
