MM yeah i'd go IDMAX, i've got a 95 and firstly it would need more power to be worth the extra $$$, u would be better off getting 35. secondly i've heard better sound SPL subs for SQ, my atomic hits lower and harder off the same power as teh 95

I am biased, so Id say IDMAX with that sort of power, and in your car a ported box is a must!

I can't even consider voting, having never heard both in optimised enclosures in the same vehicle.

I don't think anyone in Australia has. Both are great woofers based on reputation, that's for sure.

Phil, I think you have said it well.

Even in a position such as yours I appreciate the integrity of the post you have made.

I haven't heard the IDMAX, but the DD woofers I have heard, sounded very very nice.

As always, I think install is most important and I'm sure both of these woofers would sound great in the right enclosure.

ive heard Phat Devils IDMAX and it sounds brilliant!! Hits very very low and remains controlled.

The DD is also quite good, i havent actually heard the 9515, i heard a lower model at INCAR on the board and was actually much better than i had expected. The board was not exactly the best enclosre for the sub either, but i was always hearing DD was only for SPL and was quite suprised to find it sounded really nice

I dont think you will be disappointed either way

The ID will make the most of the power you have, and arguably sound better, but the DD will allow you to upgrade your amp if you want to multi-thousand watt models and still handle it without batting an eyelid :)

I would have to second Phils comments, but I would also add in response to Blackrazors post, the IDMAX12 was recently tested here in Australia for power handling and it handled 5300 watts approx for 9.5 minutes before dying. Marty at FHRX was responsible for this lunacy so if you want more details, contact him.

Oh, i have no doubt it can do that under proper test conditions, Richard Clarke got a JL 13W7 to handle a little over 17kw for about 10 minutes ;) But in practical usage, one of the European records was recently set by a couple of DD 9900 series woofers (same as the 9500 but with a nomex/kevlar cone, same motor), and they were being driven by 24 3kw amplifiers at 18v feed, and i think off memory the total power output out of them into the two subs was about 65,000w. So thats approximately 32,500w each, and thats not on a test bench, thats in an operating vehicle... now THATS power handling ;)

DD are great woofers, sometimes the fan club is a bit one-eyed, but one thing you CAN'T fault them on is power handling, they're built like a brick sh*thouse.

Neither, i'd go RE XXX ;)
I've got one and they are excellent, not had a single problem and they sound 40000% better than my Kicker L7 in pretty much the same box.. I've tried 2 boxes with the RE and cannot fault it in any way at all!

I've heard the 95 series, and own an IDMAX. The 95's were never in ideal SQ enclosures though, so kinda pointless even mentioning it

But with the power available, I still think the MAX would be better off.
