You are quick Blue ...  :!:

I would like to seek your opinion about your PPI Arts amp, how do you think of them?

I have a old dark PPI Powerclass 450 love it to bits ....

Thank for your time and valuable input.

Sorry dude, forgot to check the post

Well I can only sat that I have listened to the PPI art series for about 5 minutes. A mate told me to get them as they are sweet amps and it would save me some cash.
From the time I did listen to it, I could tell they have strong midbass and they are a very controlled amp. But that is about as much as I can say, the deal did not end up going through for me getting the PPI Art.
Apparantly the PPI Powerclass series wer good too.
Have a search on google and you will find some reviews.

I am actually going Tru Tech for my new amps, getting a T2.100 and a T4.65 and more than likely an IDMAX 12 :D :D... I cannot wait!

do they still make hd cds???

and what of dvda...are there any titles, has there been more than 20released??

sacd has a lot more titles but realistically it useless due to the fact that the release are sooo rare it may aswell be dvda.

sacd now is in 5.1 and im not a fan. I still love the 2 channel experience unless it has pictures too..then i can deal with over processed sound (well even more than 2 channel) unrealistic sound with no soundstage.

the sacd vs the normal layer im still not blown away by sacd. The normal layer in most of the cases ive heard is very very good.

it seems like this

cd dead
hdcd dead
dvda dead
sacd dead

dvd huge and still kicking
mp3 / cdr massive

another question posed with 2 channel audio was the fact that is higher bit rate actually technically better???

I think the CD is far from dead, I just think that people are getting bored of it.

But if it aint broke, why fix it?

Minidisc would have been cool if it took off, but it is still not a purist media.

I have tried MD .... the sound is very er .... not smooth and natural, I tested some MD with a Nak MD95, not really impressed.

Yes, for the music and CD i listen to, a lot of them are HDCD, if not DSD. DSD dont sound good to me, but HDCD is very consistent, giving better SQ, image, soundstage etc etc ......

Even Mcintosh has a CD source unit play HDCD it has to be a reason, but my wonder now actually as posted in another thread, is a HDCD player play a HDCD will yield much better SQ than a normal good CD player?

I m thinking of buying a HX-D1 to give it a try. Anyone has any view??

I m not too interested in D2. Dont get me wrong, it is a very nice unit, feature packed, but i just dont need that much feature, and the whopping price ......

SACD, XRCD, etc etc .... 5.1 no thanks.

yes i wouldnt say its broke, but its far from perfect, as in essence it still is a compressed format.
have you heard a high end system running a v. good turntable as its front end? this does a lot better job at "realism" then a cdp can do, so of course, manufacturers wish to improve on the current technology. When the manufacturers come up with a device that can replay music so perfectly that it is nigh on impossible to tell teh difference whether you/re there or not, that is the day they should stop trying for new technologies.

i agree that cds will be around for a long long while, mainly to do with the fact that tehre is so much available and cheap software for it around whereas there arent many dvda and sacd titles. also the cost involved in a good dvda or sacd system is enormous.

ohh crap didnt realli help the first poster out did i
haha
what price can you get the hx-d1 for?
i realli would look at the hx-d2 though, yes it does have lots of features and in this essence resembles a "multi tasking machine" but im sure it still retains the sound of the d1 and 9255. What makes you think that "good sound" and "lots of features" are mutually exclusive? Cant a deck have both?

how much is a D2 in Aus? possibly Aud 2000? or may be you know a few insider and may be 1700 or 1600 ?

I can get a D1 for around 600 AUD, brand new, or a D2 around 1650 AUD.

( i m just converting the price into Aud, coz the purchase is NOT in Aus )

Yes, I believe we can have the best of BOTH world in a D2, I actually listened to it b4 it is released paired up with Clarion Amp ( gold color with digital display ) and clarion spilts ( clarion demo ) in Beijing Motor Show, but at a whopping price .....

Cost effectivness is most important, plus I have active xover, etc etc ....

Sometimes may be just the older wine taste a bit more "pure"? or I might just be wrong ....
