Hey all,

I was looking at purchasing an EQ to try and even out some harshness etc in my setup at the moment.
Browsing through the CAA For sale forum I found an Alpine ERA-G320 EQ and an Alpine 3342 EQ, along with an Alpine PXA-H510 processor.

What I'm wondering is would it be worth going for the PXA-H510 over the ERA-G320?
It seems that the H510 has more functionality, time alignment, dolby digital, etc whilst the G320 seems to have a better/more full featured control panel.

Also I was curious as to whether the Ai-Net connection between two Alpine units is better (sound quality wise) than an RCA connection across the same distance?

Thanks for any help,

Tom

The 320 and 3342 are both great EQs but the added features of the 510 makes it the better purchase IMO. I have played with and owned some of these and think they all do a great job but the 510 is later technology and so has the benefits, that technical evolution bring.

The Ai-net connection is superior from a technical point of veiw, but wether its an audible improvement is another matter. Id suggest that using RCA level is fine and the real jump is not going to Ai-net but going digital via fibre optic, as this seems to be an audible improvement IMO. If you have an Ai-net HU then obviously you would use that method but if you dont I wouldnt loose sleep over using RCAs instead.

my 2 cents - totallge agree with Cyberpunky.

I've owned a ERAG320 and it was a nice EQ and time alignment processor, but I ended up selling it when I came to the realisation that I could fix all the problem the ERAG320 was doing by simply playing with the speaker locations/install.
