Hi just looking for some input on creating a 3way split setup. At present i have a set of Polk Momo MM465 2WAY splits as my front stage, they sound very nice with alot of mid bass impact,so i'm very happy with them, but i recentlly managed to aquire a set of earthquake focus 4in splits and a set of MB Quart QM 300.70 competition 3way passive x-overs,the earthquakes came with their own x-overs.the sensitivity of the polks are 87db and the sensitivity of the earthquake 4in mids are 89db.I'm running my front stage with 150w rms at 4ohms,so i'm wondering if it's viable to incorporate the 4in mids and MB QUART x-overs to create a 3way system, the polk mid bass units are 6.5 in with huge cast baskets that cover the magnets as well, like i said they sound awesome as they are, so would this be astep forward or backwards. The x-over frequency for MB's stated on the box is 250Hz and 5500Hz,they are extremelly heavy duty x-overs and look awesome,oh and the stated power handling on them is 150w ,would appreciate some input on this config thanks Reg

not sure if that will work properly
the biggest issue is with the polk tweeter. I would personally use the polk tweeters x-over (since you know they are designed to work with the polk tweeter and protect it properly) then hook the 4inch mid to the polk x-over. Then go active in the midbass ...then you dont need the mbq x-over .
simple but it may not sound all that good, but this is the only way i would do this setup. I would NOT use the mbq x-over.
i can go into more detail if you like...for example the mbq x-over is designed for a certain mbq tweeter, if the polk tweeter has similar specs like sensitivity, impedence, capacitance and inductance..and similar frequency response then it might work well....maybe..then you have the same problems with the earthquake midrange.
at then end of the day the mbq x-over is a big unknow factor that could help destroy your polk tweeter. Will this x-over work with the polk and the earthquake, intergrating these seemlessly??/
personally i would not even attemp this mix, i would look for a 4inch polk mid run that off the polk x-over and run the 6.5inch polk actively on their own amp channel. this will require 4 channels for your front stage.
