Btw, my system is fully active. I just feel that by going active I have greater control over it (can change settings on the fly), and I guess that's the only reason why.

Exactly my comments on Accuton. The Apogee mini dac is $1600 Aussie now. Never seen second hand ones. Yes runs b/w 8 and 16 volts.
Apogee l recon is the best D/A on the market FULL STOP, can't see the Apogee specs even in todays car audio.
PS my focals ( midbass ) are home units.

To a certain extent i agree BUT are todays car units as good as the pro gear? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
STILL ON COAX ! NO BALANCED LINES ! LOW VOLTAGE SIGNALS ! SO WHERE has there been a move ? People are still not understanding what the should be looking for !
