Hello all,

I am thinking about upgrading front stage.
At the moment I have Focal Polyglass 165V2 mids wih Focal TN46 Kevlar tweeters running active.

Now it sounds pretty good, but it is not as thick and lush and smooth as I would like it to be, it is slightly too bright.

I am thinking of replacing them with either Rainbow Profi Vanadiums or DynAudio System 240GT.

The only thing I am worried about with the Dynaudios is that they might not like all kinds of music, ie Rammstein and the like, is this true?

I need them to run active as I have all the gear and want to make good use of it. My amps are Sony XES M1's I have one for the mids and one for the tweeters, I beleive they put out about 60WRMS per channel.
They are not bridgable to my knowledge.

how do you like the tn46???

i found these to be too harsh for my liking.

if you find them acceptable then look for something with a metal tweeter like some focals or mbq speakers.

the dyns have a totally different sound, if you loved the tn46s you will hate the md100 dyn tweeters

For easy listening, go for the DYN.

If you are after something thick and smooth, then the Dyns seems like a good choice. I listen to a wide variety of music but never find Dyns having problem coping with any genre. I had the Focal Utopia sometime ago, it is more transparent than the Dyns, but is also dry in comparison.

Nice Sony gear you have there. My car audio installer back home has got heaps of nice Sony ES and XES gear too. But he'd rather keep it as part of his collection rather than selling them to me. Damn.....

Cool thanks for the input guys.

The TN46 is a lot better than the TN47 titanium ones that come with the polyglass series but overall, the sound is still a tad harsh.

ok then i would suggest maybe try a soft dome tweeter

the md100 is ok but if you want something with a little more top end i would suggest the scanspeak D2904/600000 tweeter.

I run dyns and they sound good to me playing all sorts of music. My advice would grab ur CDs and get a listen and make up your own mind.

You bet . Been following car audio for 25 years . Seen it all. ONE YEAR pioneers YES, the next MB QUARTS, FOCAL DYNS AND anything else. If i was a rep i could sell anything with all the ho up. LET YOUR ears tell the difference. AND AUDITION ALL YOUR MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Of course I intended to listen to it with my music, I do that with any audio equipment I buy.

Are the Dyn's still ok to run active? Or are they better passive?

Once again, thanks for the input.

I originally thought that I could not bridge my XES-M1 amps but I found out today that you can.

So the plan is to get the Profi Vanadiums, use the XDP-4000X as a simple 2 way crossover and use the passive XO with the Profi's and bridge the M1's.

Hopefully the M1's will be able to take a mono input and still bridge correctly if you know what I mean.

Okies, have just found out the the M1's are dual mono amps and are not designed to be bridged.

There goes that idea.
