Hey Guys :)

Yup, i searched but didnt find anything :aww:

Well ive just finished the first stage of my install. The Morels are in and sounding exceptional, even for the factory locations. Although, even with a LOT of deadening I am missing that rounded-off feeling/sound you get with sub bass :(

So im looking into the possibility of a 10 inch sub behind the seat. There is very little room back there so the box cannot at all be big. It has been done before, and i realise there is a lot of work involved, especially considering that the box needs to be all FG to utilise the most space. Ultimately I would like to have the box sit atop the Split's amp seen in the below picture:

I havnt actually gotten out the ruler/tape/calculator yet to figure out how much room I have back there, so I am after some decent SQ performers with the requirement of the littlest box volume. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks heaps!

PS: 6 inch subs anyone? :?

I don't know if these are available in Australia, but the Phase Evolution Aliante's are among the best SQ subs around.
The advantage for you is that they are only about 3.5" deep and the 10" only requires about .5 cuft to sound very good.
They won't break any SPL records but are plenty loud for reasonable listening.

Do a search on this UK forum and you'll find numerous posts on the Aliante's:

They are $$$$ but should fit in well with the quality gear you have.

Adire Brahma 10" reaches 0.707 alignment for ideal SQ in 7.5 litres. To put that another way, if you build a box that the sub barely fits inside, thats almost exactly the right size.

Thats for a sub with 27mm one way linear throw, and its without any doubt onw of the top handful of high output SQ subs on the planet :)

If you want Aliante's, Pauls Audio in ChCh NZ where we just had our CAASQ event has two of them, brand new in box, for $650 NZ for the pair :)

Blackrazor the 10inch Brahma requires 14 litres to produce a Qtc of 0.707.

Still 14litres is very small. Half a cubic feet.

Why not have the sub between the two seats firing at the dash? That way you could invert the sub and get a fair bit of volume.

Not legally. I picked mine up 2nd hand off eBay, it goes for about US$130 new.

Its the best peice of box design software i've seen in my life, and i cant recommend it highly enough. It also has probably the most informative and helpful Help file of any software program, ever.

Adire Brahma 10" - Is this link for real? How much power do these things need in a setup like mine?

Yes, the link is for real, and how much power it NEEDS depends on how loud you like it. That link simply shows how much power it would take in that enclosure for the B10 to reach full excursion :)

I wouldnt run a Brahma with less than 500-600w, and wouldnt put more into it than 1400 or so on a regular basis :)

You can get a shallow mount woofer from either Pioneer or Earthquake.

Fitting one of these in the space you have available should be a piece of cake!
