I've put four 10" woofers into that space in MR2s. That was without using fibreglass.

I did another one with two tens in ported boxes.

I've always wanted to do a nice 12" in a bandpass from the front "boot".

i used an mdf sealed box in my old MR2 behind the passenger seat. it meant there was a loss of ~6" rearward seat travel. so depends if you can sacrifice that or not. otherwise FG and small box is the way to go.

the box was ~0.8cuft for a 10".

Hehe, looks pretty funk Richard ;) Where are the amps?

As you may have noted on another thread im looking into the Alto Mobile Falstaff and the Phase Evolution Aliante (both made by the same bunch of people, apparently).

Both of them require a ~7litres box for the 10". Even if it meant extra hours sanding, I'd like to keep the full functionality of the seat adjustment. DDPhil, did you end up loosing seat travel after your install without glass?

You are most welcome to use my car as donor for your little project ;)

Thanks guys for the info so far...btw you wouldnt know where I could find the two subs mentioned above?

Cheers,
Shai

If i had a car with a boot in the front of the car i would definitely put a sub there in a bandpass box with the port entering the cabin.

We often install a single 10" driver behind the seats in MR2 like this:

You only lose a tiny bit of the seat angle travel. It can still go all the way back on it's rails.

Subwoofer selection is a major factor with these types of enclosures due to volume obviously but another thing many people never mention is cooling. Whilst it's very true you need to take care chosing your subwoofer in this smaller enclosure type (the wrong subs tend to sound terrible) it is also important to remember that if the back of the sub is up against the enclosure wall (blocking the pole vent), you're running the risk of over heating the motor under extreme conditions. :D
