Do you want a warranty in Australia? or the country that you intend buying it in?

I would suggest you buy it from an authorised Pioneer dealer in the country that you are buying it in as you will have full warranty.

Some may suggest you buy it from ebay but I definatly wouldn't, no warranty and no gaurantee the goods will arrive.

do you mean 'P9'? i'm not quite up with the lastest from pioneer, so not sure if there's a P90. :P

not sure you'd consider secondhand, as you could always contact those that have them to see if they'll sell:
*Kris from autobahn airport west, melb: maybe email/ring the store to see if he's interested in selling at the right price; he'd be due for an upgrade by now! :D
*'Archie' who you know runs one in his pajero; ditto

good luck :)

P90 is actually RSD7XII it is the new P9 actually. The Eclipse 8454 isn't quite close enough to what I expected from a 24 bits H/U but a very good value for money. without modification as it is not allowed I better step up.

japanese tuner might be a downfall but you can buy a converter i think

why not use the p9 headunit with the rs-p70xii then you can have a tuner :)

You do realise there is NO difference between the units other than cosmetics???

The new model has a matt black anodised finish and white ilumination as opposed to the original P9 color which is a frosted aluminium finish and a teal color OEL display.

(Trust me, been there done that and asked the question with the tech guys @ Pioneer :P)

Eaxctly, the only change I heard from my installer is the matt black colour. Guess its a good change. The silver colour was the only thing that kept me away from it.

I used to really hate the color of the P9. the color make me sick. it hardly integrate with any car interior. and it used to look like a toy rather than a propper SQ HU. P90 fix that problem totally. According to Peter Falquist of team DLS, Pioneer have done some tweek to the supply stage of the EQ so the sound is more solid and stagibg will be more stable. some components have been upgrade from the P9 too. PCB have the some layout but the parts being used sure not the same. I bet there are a number of upgrades that can't be seen by eyes but could be appriciate by your ears.

Anyway this is waht i have heard people saying. I haven't got any chance to listen to this combo yet. But if their were to be any upgrade from pioneer. I will suggest the use of coax instead of fiber optic for digital tranfer. I have heard P9 coax digital tranfer sounded much better than the original fiber optic. maybe P90 would work with the same mod too.

Im amazed anyone would claim to hear a difference between co-ax and optic. Im also sure anyone who went to the hassle and expense of modding one from optic to co-ax would want to hear a differnce but that doesnt mean its actual and not just perceived. I have heard a very slight difference going from rca to optic with an alpine unit, but seriously doubt you could even measure, let alone hear a change going from optic to co-ax. I guess if you want to hear something bad enough, you will

I'm not sure how the co-ax would be better, unless the optic transducers and/or fibre they use really suck.
best is to use balanced /AES connection for S/PDIF, or even better is separate lines for data/clock, like I2S format.
