Sort of tossing up between these 2. My main concerns are size (small as possible) and weight.

Ive seen notes listing the Braham 'Mark II' is around 16kg, and can fit in .5cf sealed box(?)

For the XXX I've seen its around 23kg? and needs a larger box (.7cf min?)

Anybody know if theres anything else between them? XXX has the rep of being pretty tough and good for the low rumble though can't find alot on the Braham...

The general perception in the US is that the XXX is louder and a bit more agressive whereas the Brahma is smoother and a bit better for low extension and SQ.

Personally i dont know if i overly agree with that in all circumstances, they're pretty much on a par in practise, although the XXX on paper is slightly better.

However, the new Brahma mkIII's are going to be released in a month or so, and they're an entirely different kettle of fish. Much lower Fs's than the XXX and incredibly low coil inductance means the new Brahma should be a lot easier to model for flat response and great SQ. However, the box size requirement has been ramped up too.

Thanks for the BR. Would you happen to have any spec sheets available on the M3?
Does anything else come to mind for sub selection?

What a suprise... no one has mentioned DD here!

Well, I was thinking maybe something cheaper in prices but still nice drivers, the IDQ 10" or Phoenix Gold Ti10" (not the Elite, obviously) Or the RE SX 10" more an pleasant SQ driver and not as brutal as it's older brother, the XXX.

My 2 cents

Why would they? The question has nothing to do with it!

hmmmm i got a bucket of Fs here and my coil inductance WOW it's just a rockin..........

how do they sound?

im sure there is only a very small amount of ppl on these forums who actuly listen to there speakers.. everyone else are spec junkys.

Broady..
1: go listen. what ever sounds good to you is the best one to buy. there both awesome sub's and should make most of the population happy.

2: if you cant decide which one you like the sound better, what one look's prettier?

Selling Fudd an amp (for a fraction of the real price) that had been returned by Autobarn Geelong which had been incorrectly used by AB Geelong and turned out to be faulty when Fudd started using it.
Whilst he was given a new amp after it could not be fixed, he never acknowledged any of the assistance given and bitches to this day about it.

Phil

Every comparison seems to end up with a DD sub in there somewhere.
That's why I said it.. regardless of the title.
It was a joke, but it's all good! :thumb:

Meh. Smacks me off when people say that. No offense, but when people say specs dont matter at all, its just saying that they are too lazy to actually bother to learn what does or doesnt affect a speaker in an audible manner. Listening is an essential part of the product selection process, but its not the ONLY part.

Its like people wanting to build a car from scratch, and not wanting to know ANYTHING about the technical characteristics of the parts they're putting in or how they work : all they want to know is how well cars using them perform.

Having a lower Fs DOES make it easier to get flat response to lower frequencies, and having lower coil impedance DOES increase the transient and impulse response of the woofer. So if those are two things you want (i.e tight, responsive bass with good output down low), those are two things to look for...

When the day comes when someone in Aus has a magic car that can demonstrate every sub in existance, in every box design in existance, so you can have a good old listen of how they all sound, then the whole 'listening is all that matters' hoohaa will be valid. Until then, i'll continue to rely on science and the principles that the people who DESIGN the speakers build them on, as part of product choice decisions... it hasnt failed me yet, and i'm 100% sure it wont in the future.

I have not long hooked up my RE Audio SX 15" and it sounds incredible upon initial testing.

Its a 15" but I expect the 10 would be a lot tighter but still play nice and low.

So you are telling me you would buy a sub that sounded like **** but had the spec's you were after???
or that you wouldent buy a sub that sounded awesome to you just cause the spec's were not what you wanted????

why do i have a trophy winning stereo yet i couldent tell you the spec's of any of the gear??? i dont even know the model no: of the mid's im useing!!!
all i can tell you is it sound's pretty damn good.
spec's dont mean **** if it dont sound good..

tell me.. what do you listen for when your in the car? how it sound's or how the coil induction is going??
