have been up to now using an MTX thunder 564 to power my 3 way focal utopias. There is plenty of volume and it reproduces clear sound at full volume. I am now looking to upgrade amplifiers. I have looked at a few SQ amps and after weighing in all factors I have decided on the Phoenix gold ti 500.4. Bridged at 2 channels it puts out 250 wrms X 2. I have herd that the titanium series have good clean power. If anyone could recommend anything similar or if anyone has anything for sale along these lines please let me know.

PM ICACHA, he had an ARC 4150-XXK tha he was looking to sell. 4X80wrms or bridgable to 2x320wrms at 4 ohm. Very nice amp indeed:)

There is also a Tru Technology T-4.65 in here:

what's your budget?

any of the "SQ" style amps should suffice, like:

ARC
Zapco
Tru
Audison
PG Ti
DD

etc.

how much power do you think you need? how powerful is the mtx and do you need more?

if you don't need more, you options would include either a 2-channel amp (so no bridging) or a 4-channel amp and bi-amp/wire it - say dedicated channels for the woofers and the other channels for the mids/tweeters.

I was running a PG Ti 500.4 on a set of 3 way AVI BSM components a couple of years back.

I used the front channels to run the highs and mids and the rear channels to run the mid bass.
This was all through the AVI cross over which allowed me to BI-AMP the highs/mids and mid bass.

It worked very well and gave me a little more fexibility.

I not sure if the Utopia 3 way cross over allows you to BI-AMP though.

In my view the PG Ti 500.4 amp is the most versatile amp and is my favourite Ti amp that i own.

Good luck in finding one.

the mtx is currently putting out 280 watts rms per side. I think this is the power limit of these splits. I guess all i am after is a cleaner amp that has more musical fidelity than the mtx. I want to keep around the same power output, say 200 wrms - 300 wrms per side. The crossovers wont let you bi amp so the only way will either be with the crossovers or totally without in which i will need a 6ch amp. I guess my budget is for an amp that retails for around the 2k mark.
