hey guys, just bout to start installin my system. system consists of
Sony XAV- A1 Unit
DD C6.5 Splits (to be ordered) dont know what the power rating for these. anyone?
Soundstream Xstreme XTS 6.5 Coax power handling 150rms
DD 3515 dual 2 ohms
Earthquake D2 - to run sub. modded to .5 ohm stable at roughly 3000rms
Soundstream Van Gogh VGA 500.4 4 x 125 rms
Soundstream Picasso 4.640 4 x 80rms
my first question is what gauge power n cable wires should i use? Is 1 gauge perfect or is 4 gauge adequate. bearin in mind the total power output of my amps, im thinkin the 1 gauge is the way to go. tied in with this question, what fuse rating should i use to protect the power line? where can I purchase a 1 gauge amp wiring kit and how much would i be looking at?
second question is in regards to the DD C6.5 n the amps. in terms of achievin better SQ. is it better for me to wire the DD C6.5 active? or bridge the amp to run 2ch n feed 250rms to each channel? or will this amp be more than enough to run the DD and the XTS (1ch each, hence sell the Picasso).
if I run the DDs active, will the tweeters handle the 160rms? also what frequencies should the tweeters and mids be tuned at?
with running three amps, what things should i be aware of? can i use the same ground point for all three or would i need to find a point for each one?
in regards to the sub on a day to day basis n SQ point of view, would it be ok/blend in well with the speakers if i run the sub at 1ohm? or is it better for SQ to run it at 4ohms?
last question is would i need a cap for this install? by the way this is goin on a jeep grand cherokee.
if there's anything else that I have left out or need to be pointed out to me, pls feel free to let me know. thanx in advance.
cheers

id uas a single run 1/0guage then split it up into two x 4gauge + one 1/0 gauge
you can find unfused distribution blocks that do this or
i had a stinger expert maxi fuse block that did dual i/p 1/0gauge and 3 4gauge output fused. If you used something like this id run the earthquake out the input so you can use 1/0 to it (so not fused from dist block)...and fuse the other amps with maxi fused 4 gauge.
as far as active vs passive its been discussed here alot. No real answer people are divided, but i can say that you will need professional help if you choose the active route. An rta or something similar will be needed to set the x-over points. Certain tweeters require certain slopes and cut-off points to sound good. A certain tweeter i use in car ONLY sounds good with 12db/oct x-overs for some reason.
i think for now just install it and use the passive x-overs so you get some sound in the car. Later on you can spend the extra time and cash going active front stage. Place the passive x-overs in the rear of the car near the amps so you can easily take them out and go fully active.
good luck
