Just wanted some advice on how I should run the IDMAX with the 1.400. I haven't purchased the sub yet so I can get a dual 4ohm or dual 2ohm. Thus, running it on the 1.400 - it will either be 1 x 600 RMS at 2ohm, or 1 x 900 RMS at 1ohm.

What would be the better way to run it keeping in mind -
- running in 1.3cu sealed box (recommended by id)
- sq oriented system

Cheers,
Alvin

more power the better.

although cooling fans are a MUST when running the 1.400 @ 1

Would there be a reason (besides the amp heating up) to run it at 2ohm? My understanding (limited) was that you lose out in dampening factor when you load the amp up.

hey dude, if you got 900watts on tap, and a hungry IDMAX, do it! Don't worry too much about specs. Quality equipment will always sound good if installed properly

for SQ purposes with 'normal' listening volumes, 2ohm will be adequate. it does depend on the size of the car, sedan vs hatch, and how loudly your front stage is too. and whether you wish to compete in SPL comps.

i've found IDMAX's aren't very power hungry, but quite efficient. :P

Won't be competing in SPL comps.

Car is Lancer coupe 2000.
Frontstage is Dyn 240GTs running off a 2.500.

So gets pretty loud.

What do you think Shiny? So far all have said give it 900Watts.

I'd say go for 2 ohm too :)

the sheer fact that the 1.400 needs fans all over it to run @ 1ohm means that it's under a fair amount of strain to run at that level!

Then if you find you haven't got enough juice on tap it's a fair amount easier to find a monoblock that's 2ohm stable over 1ohm stable.
